Member for over 50 years a historical milestone for Robert Burtons
We were very happy to celebrate a wonderful milestone in the Robert Burtons' history recently. At the October print awards night for the Printing Industry Association of Australia Robert Burtons was recognised for our 50th year of membership, receiving a commemorative plaque for this great achievement.Robert Burtons was founded in 1948 as a printer of movie posters and posters for hotels, such as the KB and Dinner Ale posters. The graphics were hand drawn by graphic artists onto a printing plate and then transferred to paper. Robert Burton was one of six graphic artists creating this kind of work at the time.
Although we are still involved in printing large-scale works our methods have moved along since those days to make use of the latest digital technology.
In the late 1980's, to honour the roots of the company, Robert converted his original premises in Leichhardt into an artist studio to create a venue for local artists to have a space to create their masterpieces in paint, sculpture and other media, as well as having somewhere to mix with other artists and share ideas.
We are very proud of these achievements in our history and look forward to another 50 years of successfully serving our community.
